The second Sunday of October each year is designated Pastor Appreciation Day (of course, any Sunday during the month may serve this special purpose). Other Sundays during this month allow the congregation to create the healthy atmosphere of giving honor, including honoring all pastoral leaders who may not be the lead pastor.

The Bible says to give double honor to those who lead us, especially those instructing us in the Word.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the Word and doctrine. (1 Timothy 5:17)

In your giving honor, give honor as well to the spouse.

Listed below are a dozen ways you may wish to honor your pastor. Your imagination will help you to discover many more ways.

  1. A card shower, some with gift cards to restaurants or shops
  2. An afternoon or evening social event in the social hall or at a local restaurant
