District School of Ministry
The SC DSOM is a non-degree certificate program that equips students with the required biblical, theological, and ministerial training for credentials with the Assemblies of God. It also serves Christian leaders who seek to enhance their knowledge for personal enrichment and training for effective ministry within the local church. This is accomplished through a combination of independent home study, digital classroom instruction, group interaction, relational connection with other students, and active involvement in ministry within the local church.
SC DSOM seeks to provide the students with the highest quality instruction and resources possible in a practical and cost effective way. It gives educational direction, provides a welcoming atmosphere for the work of the Holy Spirit and guides the student’s spiritual development to equip them for effective ministry.
Preparation is offered for the three successive levels of ministerial recognition:
- Certification
- License
- Ordained

About DSOM
A guiding purpose in the educational design was to make the SC DSOM convenient and affordable. For more information, download the current student handbook.
To participate as a student, please follow these steps:
DSOM IS....
It is a convenient and affordable means to satisfy the educational requirements for ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God and to provide quality ministry education for staff and members of local congregations.
It is a pathway towards credentialing for those who sense a call into vocational ministry. It provides a systematic plan for completing all classes required for each of the three levels of credentials with the Assemblies of God.
It is about helping those who want to grow in their understanding of the Bible and ministry. It provides the instruction, interaction, accountability, and relationships that are not available through correspondence courses.
It is for those desiring to serve vocationally in ministry (as pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and church leaders). It is also for those individuals who want to learn more about the Bible and improve their ability to serve Christ, the church, and their local community.
DSOM Is Not....
It is NOT a college or university. Individuals who are able to attend college or seminary are strongly encouraged to attend an endorsed A/G college or seminary!
It is NOT an accredited school. Students should not expect their DSOM courses to transfer or be readily accepted by accredited colleges and universities.
It is NOT the same as Berean School of the Bible/Global University correspondence education. DSOM satisfies the same credentialing requirements but in a different format. While Berean/Global courses offers students the opportunity to take any class (via correspondence) at any time and at any pace, DSOM courses are scheduled for specific times throughout the year and must be completed within the specified time frame.
It is NOT credentialing. SC DSOM is a means to meet the educational requirements for credentialing. However, other criteria is required to make application for a ministerial credential with the Assemblies of God. More information is available on our Credentials page. Students interested should contact Michelle Sandler at our District Office 803-936-0541 or Michelle.Sandler@ag4sc.com
